Hey, how are you?
Around two weeks ago local Glasgow band TEOSE released their new single Holding On.
Straight away its a nostalgic, memory carrying single for me. Reminding me of other comparable artists such as Cortney Barnett, Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy.

Holding On begins with acoustic guitar and what sounds like tape being whirled, rewinded and set into place. Melissa Brisbane’s hung up vocals deliver meaningful lyrics; “Don’t want to say this, wish I could undo how I felt, wish that I fell for someone else.” Sets the grove to this more chilled out number from the trio.
Composed with clean drums and indie cemented bass lines the track is built upon its clear and strong song writing. Such lines as “I’ve been walking around inside this shell, cant trust anyone to help.” However, the chorus adds a lighter touch and creates a dynamic, lighter touch to Holding On.
Having listened to the song a few times I think that the major sell is the disguise of it being quite a serious, impactful single but actually sounding quite 90’s nostalgic.
If you have listened to TEOSE before than you will be aware of their amalgamation of indie-psychedelic and noise pop rock sound. And they carry this style forward with their latest release.
Before we were ordered to recluse inside (obviously for good reasons) and amuse ourselves to death with Netlfix and staring at walls. TEOSE were pretty busy with playing shows around Glasgow and releasing a fair amount of their own music. Hopefully this will resume once we are all allowed to go back outside again.
If you go looking you’ll be able to find their social media plus they have the album I feel so insecure which they released last year, if you fancy getting to know their sound more.
