Sat taking selfies for absolutely no reason, feeling pathetic because I’m hungover (again), swollen and bloated from eating cake- I recently became 25- and realising I could be spending time far better.

Everyday Pharaohs recently got in touch to send us their new single that came out in early April.

Years & Years & Years is the new single from their third EP The Seasons Are Creeping Up On Me which is set to be released later on in the year.

Strummed acoustic but played along with an electric guitar make the opening melody. Sean Halket’s vocals make a quick entrance, sounding comparable to Brain Molko from Placebo and sing equally tell-all style lyrics with the opening verse;

“I can count on you to stay,

Keep me around either way,

Are you who you say you are,

Your bullshit friends and shooting star,”

Granted the song is more on the mellow and angsty side of writing but we all need to dip into different emotions from time to time. The song picks up particular speed and aggression after the two minute mark where a plucked guitar melody begins to signal the closing transition to the song. Matt Johnson leathers into the drums as we head forth with into the bridge and Ewen Connell (on bass) doubles up to sing alongside Halket, the pair of them singing “I haven’t been happy, for years & years & years…”

Years & Years & Years is a good expression of paranoia and not becoming complacent with life. The two main elements to the track that I enjoy are; 1) They’ve kept it simple in true grunge/rock vibes but keep the lyrics meaningful and 2) I like their motto of *“three dudes just trying their best.”

Like I said before the song came out in early April so go and give it a listen. And more joyously new music is coming from the band later in the year so please keep yourselves aware and hopefully you’ll see a write up of it on here too.

Ok, so my eyes feel like they are about to fall out of my head I’m that tired.

Think its nap time for me but as always follow Everyday Pharaohs on their social media and give their other two EP’s a listen to as well. The song A Dart Room For Dave from the Congregations On Your Smile EP is a pretty good tune too.

Right, stay safe and sexy everyone.
