Alright Troops?
Its Friday! Shorts on. Taps aff! Lets get the weekend started. By now we should all have a bit of a routine to how we do the weekend. Pints in gardens, face timing friends and still being allowed out for that ‘once a day exercise.’
For this evening we’re bringing you a new release to some but an already established song for fans of Shredd. For some savage reason Cobra- their debut single- was deleted from streaming platforms. Originally released back in 2017 the song was Shredd’s closing number, pushing gig goers to get moving and erupt along to the harmonically destructive and pleasingly chaotic sound that is Shredd.

Listening to Cobra one must retain their dispersed ambition to throw their fridge through the window of their third floor tenement flat. But it carrying the contents of my survival in these weird times its probably safer if I don’t.
Settling down again lets continue…
The Glasgow band have been a strong stable for the local music diet and have never halted in there ability to perform live with raw energy and produce good music too.

Cobra is a fuzz track, kicked up with heavy drums, echoed guitar and a bass part that is so fuzzy it is almost velcro. The vocals sync up pretty well with the guitar in their aesthetic (which can pretty much apply to any bluesy-fuzz-rock genre), they are overdriven and the backing vocals are dribbled into a form of echo as well. I love that the drums haven’t been fucked around with. They are pretty much straight
panned, thick but not gunked up.
The track was produced by Bruce Rintoul who worked with Fatherson and Vukovi. The punk looking, tattoo-able artwork was drawn up by Emily Wylde (check out Emily Wylde Creative on FB for other photos, art and poster work) of Ghost Girls Society.

In short Cobra is a good song. If you know the band then you’ll be ecstatic
-was going to write something that was both complementary and filthy there but I’ll safe myself- that the song has been re released. If you haven’t listened to them before then what the fuck are you doing still reading this? While you are at it give The Switch and In My Head a listen too.
So aye, get on it and have a good weekend. As always like, share and listen to the bands music (please like and share our shite too). Stay safe and we'll catch you around!
