Ladies and gentleman, brothers and sisters and all you sexy creatures in-between. Let me proudly introduce you to the Glasgow band GINGER with their new release Gardens.

The band formed through a host of open mic’s that take place throughout Glasgow- particularly Duke’s bar and Dry Gate. Of the song itself, its a beautiful composition of two alternating parts (using an A-B-A structure). It begins with a bass intro combined with chilled vocal melodies, each person singing; “Oh I’m your lover, the gardens told me so” thus creating this summery/spring vibe to the track.

It quickly purses a faster route and shows its more alternative-rock drive. If anything, I would compare this track to more garage rock bands such as Wavves, the Liverpool band The Orielles or the plush more side of Ty Segall. Singing through more clearer verses, the band as a whole play well and the song still retains that summery, breezy aesthetic.

GINGER also created a music video to go along with there track. Lead vocals + guitar member, Robbie Orr, showed symptoms of Corona Virus as the lockdown began to talk place. The band originally had other plans for a music video but with the result of Orr's health decided to use shots of their garden, the neighbours cats and tenement living. On top of this, Orr shot footage of the other band members playing in his garden while he recovered in his own flat. Collectively I think it could be seen as a way of documenting what its like to self isolate and work with the circumstances you are given.

Well driven and finding the perfect exit, Gardens ends as it began with the bass melody playing over and the combined vocal harmonies still singing; “Oh I’m your lover…”

I think I'm head over heels with this track because it paints the life of living in Glasgow, especially with the video portraying the mannerism of 'just get on with it.'

This is an insanely easy-going song to fall in love with and one of the very few that I showed to other people and we all agreed that its the perfect song for the good weather we are having at the moment.

So get it added to your playlist on whatever streaming platform (Spotify and only Spotify) you use and give the video a watch, a share and a like.

I'll catch you around, mind and stay safe now. x
