How’s things? Here, we’ve got a new website and with that we can finally tell that Tumblr platform to fuck off.
With that done, ‘Rose Gold,' is the first instalment into what is going to be bi-monthly of releases by the Edinburgh based artist Elle Exxe. Its a really beaut of a track thats made up of synth, bass ad drums. Having a formidable alliance of instruments Exxe layers the baked delight with angelic vocals.
Releasing her concept-album ‘Love Fuelled Hate’ in 2016 and receiving critical acclaim from it, this single is almost a slightly different turn but its fitting well. The synth and vocals accompany themselves well. There is no competition to sell the lead melody which isn’t spoilt by the strong drum beat that needs no formal introduction from myself. Immediately you’ll think, “this sounds like A-ha.” And without wasting any time you’ll make it your morning track, blasting it through the house and singing it to no one but your overly hydrated plants.
The plan of action for Exxe is to release a song on the 20th of every second month with acoustic numbers in between. I could agree that this would make a fine balance (not meaning that in a bad way) to show the different lights and shades of Exxe and her approach to songwriting.

‘Rose Gold’ is a strong start to the year and I love the lyrics. It’s a deliverance of story telling, of rhyme and slight alteration making it flow of the tongue. Straight in its, “what more could she do, what more could she say, she’s not ready yet to give up but she still cant find a way.” You feel as if it is biopic but I’d hate to be the one to prude.
It came out six days ago (20th of Feb) and I was late to the party. Many apologises. Annoyingly, I was stuck in Pitlochry because of the snow but not annoyingly I killed time listening to ‘Rose Gold.’
Bye bye now.
